Online Travel Sales Projections - 11:20 PM EST - TK
Jupiter forecasts that online travel sales will go from $4.2 billion in 1999 to $16.6
billion in 2003. Good news for MSN Expedia and Preview Travel.

Although U.S. consumers will spend $16.6 billion in 2003 on booking leisure and unmanaged
business travel online, travel suppliers are not realizing their full online market share potential.
According to Jupiter Communications' research, airlines, car rental companies and hotels have
allowed their sites to stagnate and must continue to market aggressively and improve
execution to attain and retain today's travel consumer. Jupiter's new travel projections show
that air travel will continue to dominate the travel products sold online, representing more
than 80% of the online travel dollars. However, as online car and hotel bookings continue to
climb, that share will fall to 60% in 2003. - Jupiter
