Iwerks Giant Screen Theaters are 'Far Too Big for the Average Show'

BURBANK, CALIF. (May 20) ENTERTAINMENT WIRE -May 20, 1999--Iwerks
Entertainment Inc. (Nasdaq:IWRK), an international leader in high-tech
entertainment attractions, launched its Extreme Screen Theatre brand
Thursday with the announcement to open new Iwerks Extreme Screen
Theatres in Kansas City and Columbus, Ohio, adding to the company's
recent announcement of the first branded Extreme Screen Theatre in the
United Kingdom with Warner Village Cinemas.

Iwerks recently announced an agreement to create the first Iwerks
Extreme Screen Theatre with Warner Village Cinemas in Manchester, U.K.,
as part of the new Cheshire Oaks retail and entertainment complex
scheduled to open in December 1999.

Iwerks has also reached agreements to open Iwerks' Extreme Screen
Theatres at Science City at Union Station in Kansas City and at COSI in
Columbus. An Extreme Screen Theatre will be featured in "Theatre Row"
in Science City at the newly restored Union Station in Kansas City
scheduled to open in November. A third Extreme Screen Theatre will be
located at COSI, the innovative educational venue in Columbus, also
scheduled to open in November.

"The Iwerks Extreme Screen brand embodies the uniquely dynamic
entertainment and breathtaking experience of Large Format films," said
Chuck Goldwater, president and CEO of the company. "The Iwerks Extreme
Screen brand was developed to give our clients a competitive edge in
attracting audiences in their markets with the most popular Large
Format films and extending the awareness of the exciting entertainment
offered in Giant Screen theaters."

The Iwerks Extreme Screen Theatres feature towering movie screens
ranging in size from 65 feet wide to more than 80 feet tall together
with Iwerks' leading-edge projection system and digital sound
technology.

"We developed the Extreme Screen Brand program based on extensive
consumer research that clearly indicated audiences identify with and
enjoy the highly immersive experience of Large Format film," said
Christina Owen, director of marketing. "The Extreme Screen brand speaks
directly to our clients' need to reach their consumers directly with an
exciting brand message that instantly communicates the amazing
entertainment offered in their theaters."

"The Extreme Screen brand is beneficial because it gives our clients
substantial support in the areas of theater marketing, advertising and
promotions, which will help differentiate and distinguish their
theaters in the market," said Goldwater.

To support the brand launch, Iwerks has developed extensive
applications of the Extreme Screen brand graphics and slogans, as well
as numerous concepts and resources for group sales, promotions,
publicity and special events.

"All our graphics and marketing concepts -- from group sales programs
to publicity campaigns -- take full advantage of the 'extreme' concept
in a creative sense and express it as a brand concept in eye-catching,
compelling ways that will make an immediate positive impact on our
clients' success in marketing their theaters," said Owen.

The Extreme Screen brand launch continues Iwerks' aggressive growth in
the high-tech entertainment industry, which includes theater
development worldwide and the production and distribution of Large
Format films.

"Encounter in the Third Dimension," a 3D film produced by nWave
Pictures in association with Iwerks and currently in general release,
is Iwerks' first Large Format film co-production. Iwerks' second Large
Format feature with nWave, "Alien Adventure," also in 3D, will premiere
this fall.
