Internet and "Cheap" PC's Probably the worst fear of Intel and Dell is that internet growth is fueled by low-end PC's. If the demographics are legacy PC's with K6 and Celeron in new users, I don't expect content providers to spend big bucks on Katmai features. Speed is a nice feature for the user, (and will spur upgrades to legacy machines), but performance of the low end Celerons and K6's is quite adequate. This is particularly true since connection speed is the real limiting factor, even with legacy PC's. Broadband connections are viewed as the panacea, but by the time they become ubiquitous, low end PC's will be running at 1gHz. And with CPU processes migrating to ever higher densities, costs will continue to decline. Could be the biggest problem is keeping the factories near capacity. I've no doubt the internet will continue to drive double digit unit growth for years, but the days of revenue and margin growth are over. JMO's, of course.
