Jane,
While you were at it did you ask the gun dealers for an alternative? There is none. You can buy other locks but then you have to have the gun unloaded. I takes about 10 seconds to unlock LOCKs lock. If you have a handgun stolen from your home wouldn't you want it to be useless? If your gun dealers have any alternatives that lock a loaded gun I sure would like to hear about them. As for it being bulky I sure do not want the police running around with their guns locked. This is for use when the gun is not holstered. In a perfect world people would store their firearms in a gun safe but this is not a perfect world.
