What I was hoping, was that a, "gif is not a gif." Again a tough one to explain. But I was hoping that screen refreshes would not take as much memory as a pure and simple gif. But it appears that I am wrong. But then again, maybe something is interfering with the results of our testing? It is an interesting avenue to explore.
When hitting the demo program on the CTXS site, I am surprised they can demo those Powerpoint slides. Those slides take up a LOT of memory. When I run Powerpoint on my desktop, with 128 megs of Ram, Pentium II, etc, it still stalls sometimes. But I noticed their demo Powerpoint, runs very well. That is what got my hopes up for a remote fat pipe to the Internet for browsing.
You know if it did work, that means anyone with a PDA, or better yet, a palm computer, could have a 33.6 dialup, and browse the web at much higher speeds.
Oh well, it was an idea anyway. Maybe some CTXS engineer might be reading this and set up some kind of controlled test and CTXS might have another feature to promote....About 1-1/2 or 2 years ago I sent Citrix an E-mail listing some details of a Navy project that was tailor made for CTXS use. I never got a reply but I noticed they did get a Navy contract they now boast about.
