<<< Now, I'll admit, most folks don't have network analyzers sitting in the closet next to the vacuum cleaner, but still - my data's MY data! I don't want anyone ELSE looking at it. Does anyone know if my concern is a valid one? As I said, I've never seen the subject brought up anywhere.>>>
It's been mentioned but not for a long while. Probably because those who've followed this thread for more than two or three months have pretty much discounted cable as a viable alternative---while hoping it'll proceed as impetus to get the telcos off their corporate duffs. Security is a big selling factor for ADSL, no doubt about it.
Now about network analyzers, where did you say we could buy them? :)
Incidentally, if you haven't already seen it, rent Kieslowski's "Red" for a wonderful story involving an old curmudgeon eavesdropping on his neighbors in a Swiss/French suburb.
French with English subtitles, you'll enjoy it for the music as much as the story. Remember the guy who co-starred in "Man and a Woman" back in the middle sixties? I forget his name, but he plays the ol' grump. Irene Jacob co-stars, with a cameo appearance by Juliet Binoche (who stars in "Blue," the first of the trilogy). I'm not sure how the ol' guy tapped his neighbor's phones, but you'll probably be able to figure it out.
Okay, back to business: I just learned that ADI has not licensed yet but is still negotiating. Shipping the chips isn't cause to take legal action, but *selling them* is.
Cheers!
