I've never been on a continuous machine. All I know is pills or buttshots. I did notice that if I lucked out and got the dose Just Right I'd have pain relief with almost none of the narcoticky side effects. Your idea of fine gradations is a winner. I'd rather take four teeny clicks and hit the balance point than seesaw between being drugged and bugged.
