F. Foos, the reference to "real-time" by Mike Matsumura (Sun Java) in regard to Inferno and JavaOS does have the same meaning as with Wind River's VxWorks. The distinction to be made here is that Inferno and VxWorks are hard real-time systems while JavaOS falls short on this score. This is why the raw JavaOS can be used for some applications by itself but for other more demanding applications must be run on top of a hard real-time system like VxWorks.
