Compression shouldn't change anything. S3TC allows for 4 bit textures that are close to 32 bit quality. With 1/8 the memory needed, why would you even need AGP. It would be like having 128 MB local memory storage. Once again, the usefulness of AGP alludes me but every review site is still banging the AGP texturing drum.

Where did you hear that YAB would be added to DX7?
