<<This has always been a rags to riches and back again company and for the moment it is rag time. >>

You are definitely right on that point. That's why I keep staring at everything on this company and trying to figure out if we are at the bottom of the rag time or if there is another unexpected announcement waiting around the corner. I did well with the last rag to riches cycle, but that was just blind luck and I'm trying to learn how to use my eyes. So now I would like to understand the importance from your view of separating out the hardware sales from the others. In particular, since STK systems are for larger companies with the need for managing large data bases I would put the software support as being one of the major factors in them using STK (I am thinking along the lines here of the higher cost for their tape systems). For example, for my research I right now I would go with DLT and rely on my own and my collaborators' expertise to fill in any holes in functionality of whatever software we happen to be running; however, if I were choosing something for my university to handle the same amount of data, I would prefer to go with a turnkey system due to the turnover in technical support people. So I would think for STK hardware and software sales go together and I would like to understand your point better, e.g., I would have never been able to make the direct connection to the amount of potential write-offs except when I know that a company is sitting on an inventory of near obsolete devices.

thanks,
Donald
