Digital and discrete are not interchangeable. Digital is discrete in time and with the simplest subset of discrete values. What is a discrete electron? In position it has a continuous probability distribution. In energy it has a vast number of discrete states, but only when confined. In any case, it is better to depict nature as being quantized, but not digital, in its smallest facets.
