PROVO, Utah, March 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Novell, Inc. (Nasdaq: NOVL) today announced the departure of Mary M. Burnside, executive vice president corporate services, as part of a mutually agreed upon separation.
Burnside joined Novell in 1988 and held various management positions over the last nine years. She led in the development of systems to outsource product manufacturing and manage fulfillment of product orders to the more than 200 distributors of Novell software worldwide.
"Mary Burnside played an important role in managing the manufacture of Novell products as they shifted from a mix of hardware and software products to just software," said Joseph A. Marengi, Novell president and Chief Operating Officer. "She was instrumental in streamlining Novell operations through relationships with outside suppliers that make Novell's product manufacture highly cost effective."
With Burnside's departure, the reporting relationship of operations and education groups within the company changes. Operations will be combined with sales support to form the corporate services group. Education, which develops training and certification programs for Novell's worldwide education channel, becomes part of the Novell service and support organization.
Founded in 1983, Novell is the world's leading provider of network
software. Information about Novell's complete range of products and services can be accessed on the World Wide Web at novell.com.

Why do you need an "outsourcing" manager if the manufacture is going to buy the company??? She left "...as part of a mutually agreed upon separation"...could this be the discussion about a merger or consolidation and everybody now has "mutually agreed".

Or perhaps just another frustrated Novell execuitive manager?
