Fri 21 May 99 News Release
Mr. Glen Macdonald reports
UTEM electromagnetic and magnetometer geophysical surveys are continuing at
Starfield's Nunavut Territory Ferguson Lake property. This survey coverage
has traced the main zone for more than seven kilometres, extending out from
the known deposit explored in the 1950s by Inca. A resource was estimated
at that time to contain 6.4 million tons grading 0.87 per cent Cu and 0.75
per cent Ni within a strike length of 730 metres. Widely spaced stepout
holes by Inca (including hole 9483 which intersected 23.9 metres grading
1.26 per cent Ni and 1.08 Cu) partially traced the zone now being more
precisely defined. Preliminary results from the new geophysical surveys
indicate that zones of very high conductivities are present, coincident
with strongly anomalous magnetic responses. The survey has also detected
new, parallel anomalies. Drilling is currently under way to determine the
significance of the conductors.
