I was just surfing around and saw that you were preaching mainly to yourself--or perhaps everybody is just lurking. That seemed a shame, so I thought I'd say hello! I don't consider myself a very religious person, at least not anymore, but I hope I still have some level of spirituality inside me. Anyway, I had a question for you:
Have you ever seen the movie THE LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST. Any opinion? Blasphemy?
I rather enjoyed it, found it very moving--thought Scorsese was respectful and did a very nice telling of the story. The Peter Gabriel music was terrific too.
Here is the fist part of cast list off moviecritic.com:
Willem Dafoe...Jesus Harvey Keitel....Judas Paul Greco....Zealot Steve Shill....Centurian Verna Bloom....Mary, Mother of Jesus Barbara Hershey....Mary Magdalene
Dafoe was brilliant!
If you have not seen it, you might want to check it out, would love to hear your comments. Maybe not as good as the book, but entertaining, and as I said, very moving--the crucifixion of course, the temptation I thought was a trick played on moviegoers: Jesus was never tempted, the *viewer* was tempted to imagine another fate...but it was never even a possibility.
I thought that was very clever, and amusing that the folks who protested the movie did not see it that way.
Anyway, as far as your last post, about the antichrist coming and all that. I can understand if a person finds clues in the Bible and takes the Bible at it's word, but I wonder if everything anti-christ is not already present here on Earth. Seems to me the Nazi's and Stalin, and maybe this Milsovitch have served up enough anti-christlikeness for awhile--I don't see satan showing up quite yet;-) |
