Steve,with regards to the Aol cable needs--what do you make of the idtc/net2phone partnering this week with ge capital,softbank,and aol.There had been some mention by idtc/net2phone of an alliance with athome.Would it be presumptious to think with cable a near but distant reality that an internet phone company could emerge in the breach ie net2phone and that idtc could parlay itself as the isp packet provider to such a huge entity as Aol or as the gateway or as a clec with improved bandwith supplied by new switches being engineered by a recent idtc/ Siemens alliance. In other words is it possible that Idtc with its computer phone can use its existing lines with an internet driven phone to increase delivery of its packets by bypassing more traditional routes supplied by telephone lines? So once you are online and you are engaged by phone to an isp the internet phone delivers by packet your message with an explosion of packets finding the fastest route available thereby increasing the speed of delivery and subsequently doing and endrun around bandwith.Once online wouldn't the space that exists between telephone connections be wide open and data that exists in this open space subject to finding the quickest and easist route to reach its destination like a million marbles each numbered 1-1,000,000 on a table with a billion holes that lead to a marble bag at the bottom of this table.When they begin the are in perfect sequence but once in route to this bag who knows, but when they reach their destination they once again align themselves perfectly? I know this is what basically happens anyway on the internet, but the bag below and the table on top are the problem ie telephone connections at either end but with a device ie internet phone that exists between the bag and the table that is redirecting the marbles routes to relieve the congestion caused by some marbles going down the same holes and collecting at the mouth of the bag in lumps waiting their turn to enter the bag. Instead it is done in an ordely fashion and in sequence the marbles would enter quicker and the alignment by number would be already accomplished so the need to reconfigure them 1-1,000,000 eliminated,it would have to be quicker. I am sorry for the rambling,but unlike you I am not a writer and this whole thing confuses the hell out of me anyway?That is why I am a faithful reader of your posts and articles.So my confusion is good for you,its keeps you gainfully employed.You should get a raise after reading my goings on! |
