I think to compare Milosevic to Hitler is to trivialize what Hitler did.
I think the comparison is quite accurate. It just depends on what time-frame you wish to use.
The Hitler regime between 1933-39 can easily be compared to Milosevic's of the past 10 years. There was a demonization of ethnic minorities, deprival of political and civil rights, exploitation of nationalist emotions, the formation of a gov't answerable only to its political head, instigation of violence in neighboring provinces/nations in an attempt to annex territory... etc, etc,..etc.
No one opposed Hitler to any extent and the world suffered for that indifference. The reliance upon weak diplomatic means to confront Milo, backed by "Now you made me REALLY MAD" threats of military force have permitted him to act to the extent that he has in these past years, as well as Milo's being able to count on the political cover provided by Moscow and Bejing.
So forgive me if you were offended by my comparison, but I feel it is appropriate.
