Generally agree with your statements.

Current PC users aren't a monolith. Nor are prospective customers.

The appliance, or more specifically, a set of appliances may be sufficient for many people. For others, the appliances will be a supplement to the PCs. A similar spectrum will likely exist in the corporate world as well.

The probability of appliances reducing PC growth (wherein I define PC as the full gamut from desktop to server and everything in between) any time soon, IMO, is minuscule. Rather, I see it bringing a whole new set of prospects to the PC world. In addition, appliances may make the difference between a marginal application and one that makes economic sense - another source of growth for both appliances and PCs.

Just because there are Yugos doesn't mean that BMW should close up shop, and go home. If anything, the Yugo factory will die much sooner.
