re: If you're concerned because you are a techie.... That's because they are “blinded by science” and interminably impatient
So true.
Everything we have been talking about is not least bit revolutionary, it has taken time, but the pieces are falling into place. First we had internet, then intranets, now it's going to be homenets. DELL has concentrated on the corporate side, now they are going after the consumer, what better way to do so then to play the high end with packages it's a few years away still but it will happen.
re: The Palm Pilot and similar palm computing devices have gained acceptance in the marketplace. However, the volumes and associated revenues have not achieved the size necessary to entice Dell to enter as a developer.
I have to disagree with you on the above at least on the volume side, and maybe on the revenue side. The Palm Pilot by itself could match what you are saying, but when you make it wireless, as the new one is going to be, it becomes a totally different animal altogether. Even QCOM see this with there new Q-phone, which is a combo Palm Pilot and Cell Phone. These devices are going be big, and DELL could of gotten in on the ground floor with a separate division by buying Palm Pilot, gotten to know small foot print devices, applied it's model to it, and taken the market by storm.
