SI:

I've been following MRVC since INTC invested back in 96 and lost some money on it. The move from 6 to 14 and now consolidating is a classic. Some of the risk is now out of the stock.

At some point MRVC may be a target of INTC, especially if INTC keeps moving into CSCO market (not in the near future but a year or two out). So there are similarities with ASND. ASND could not have made it to the next level on its own and had to be acquired. The same will happen with MRVC (my opinion). The time and cost involved to compete with a CSCO or LU, as CSCO and LU acquire or develop new products will be to prohibitive. We'll have your stair steps, especially as this market is expanding (although the stock market has some risk in the short term) but I don't see MRVC being able to compete on CSCO and or LU's level over a long period of time.

In the meantime lets see if Noam announces the China contract. That wasn't on your list and as you mentioned a couple of weeks ago its a big positive (and some of its news is already reflected in the stock price).

Here is an article on CIENA's ex CEO and optical switching. More competition for MRVC.
