John,

Knew that comparison would be popping up eventually.

So you're comparing what is currently going on in Kosovo with the American Civil War??

Hmmm.....

Amazing.... So Abraham Lincoln was a former communist, bent upon seizing to place control over the entire economy with the hands of a few priviledged few political party members??

Lincoln stirred up anti-South hatred in the North, revoked all independent political control from the Southerners, denying them any form of self-government or political autonomy, and placed Northern troops and police in complete control over police and security??

And Lincoln condoned, if not encouraged, abuse and terror to be exploited against the South during the pre-war years???

There is a big difference between trying to dominate a completely different ethnicity, wiping them out or forcing them to leave the country because you don't wish to politically empower them, and what occurred in the American Civil War.

I'm not even about to enter into a history lesson, but you can go do some research if you wish. However, I challenge you to tell me where the Federal Gov't tried to turn the South into a serfdom with no element of political representation in the Congress. The catalyst for the Civil War was the ownership of slaves (and there is no constitutional right to own slaves), and the southern states choosing to exert what they felt were their right under the Articles of Confederation (precursor to the Constitution).

The war was fought by states who had voluntarily joined the union with the signing of the constitution, who then decided to opt out of that Federal Union solely because they wanted to preserve the right to enslave their fellow men and didn't want Washington DC to tell them otherwise.

Sorry, but you will have to do better than trying to say Abraham Lincoln was a dictator bent on ethnically cleasing and killing other ethnicities.

As for being a war criminal or hero, he was neither. He was a man of priniciples, a lover of freedom and liberty, and a man who took so glory or satisfaction from what had to be done, but merely did it, and did it with courage, fairness, and conviction.

Regards,

Ron
