RMBS v. DELL is not a good comparison to me. DELL doesn't "design" anything. It sells (arguably) commoditized product (and -- very well -- I might add). I see RMBS more along the lines of a software company. It's got this year's "killer app." An even better model may be biotech. Those companies invent, develop and bring new compounds to market -- just as RMBS is doing with RDRAM. The question that lots have posed for RMBS is -- what does RMBS have in its "pipeline?" We know they have been filing patents on future apps. But most of us know nothing about the future of semi's, let alone the viability of RMBS' patents. That said, when investing in RMBS future one must be investing in a management one believes will be helping to hasten the future. Just like MSFT and its kin (and AMGN and its kin), I'm certain RMBS management isn't simply sitting around and neglecting the future. Worst comes to worst they'll buy into the coming technologies (as I believe they already are). Needless to say, If I didn't have faith in management, I'd look elsewhere for long term profits.
