GIFT mentioned in April Internet World

An article titled Patently Amusing interviews Greg Aharonian. He's something of an online patent expert that has setup Internet resources for the research and discussion of patents. About 8 paragraphs are about GIFT. Below's the most interesting part:

Page 58:
...But Aharon believes the E-data patent will wind up being invalidated because it's too broad. To bolster his view, he posted to his service on Oct 16, 1996 a note sent to him by a former patent examiner. In part, it read, "The patent examiner who issued the E-data patent was known (and laughed at) for issuing a patent for almost every patent that crossed his desk. While most examiners in group 2300 struggled to reach their production quotas, this examiner almost always achieved production levels of 250 percent to 400 percent (an impossible feat for quality examination.)"...

The following patent search links were published:

Hope this is useful reading for nap-time :-)
