WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Louis Gerstner, chairman and chief executive of International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE:IBM - news), sold 185,000 common shares of IBM this week for a net proceed of $25.3 million, IBM said Friday.
The sale is a normal part of Gerstner's tax planning and asset diversification effort, IBM spokesman John Bukovinsky said.
Gerstner's current stake in the world's largest computer maker -- including options and stock directly held -- stands at 4,168,867 shares, Bukovinsky said.
The sale of those 185,000 shares this week marks the first time this year that Gerstner has sold IBM stock, the spokesman added.
IBM, based in Armonk, N.Y., currently has more than 907 million shares outstanding.
Its stock price closed down $2.125 to $230.375 on the New York Stock Exchange. |
