Walmart didnt have the luxury of a stock market that was eagerly willing to finance Amazon's core business model of giving 5 dollars away for the price of 4.

Any company that can "afford" to sustain massive losses through e-retailing can obviously have massive sales. So what? Walmart never did this, and instead took the sane but slow (relative to the current internut mania) route of building a profitable and viable retail business.

Until Amazon shows they have any idea whatsoever how to turn a profit, Bezos is just pissin' in the wind. And Mary Meeker has been there all along to help him aim.
