James,

I also by JPM through their DRP. This is a phenomenal company--perhaps the strongest global franchise in banking/financial services in the world. Their relationships with sovereigns and emerging market large capitalization companies are outstanding. While Wall Street is littered with bulge bracket wanna-bees, JPM has taken an investment banking operation from nothing to the top tier in an amazingly short amount of time.

I'm a senior at Princeton, and all of the i-banks come calling each fall. I can tell you first hand that even as recently as 4 years ago, the hot spots to be were Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs. Now, JPM is mentioned in the same breadth. That is anecdotal evidence, to be sure, but I think it bodes well for them in the future. If this stock was valued as a global investment bank (which I think one day it will), it would be 25-50% higher than it is now. . .and you get a nice dividend while you wait on the Street's perception of JPM to catch up to reality.

Just my opinion :-)

P.S. Just about the only two areas I pick stocks from are technology and financials. Obviously SI is a great place to chat about tech stocks--but is there a decent place out there to chat about financials?
