Ed, Charles and Alan;

Good to hear from you.

I have not followed any of the deserts that closely, however, I'm assuming Maxam is just mapping the ancient rivers, via their beds, using magnetics. I spent a sometime looking for sand and gravel deposits using standard geomorph tools. Its very common to see different features in the overburden that are characteristic of its history. It would be nice to see a picture of a channel in cross-section.
