Ron, res- Now that we're in this mess, and we can't relive the past, how would you resolve this issue beginning tomorrow??

I believe I discussed this in my previous post, but let me offer this clarity. First of all we need to recognize that the course we are on offers little hope for success. And that we are not doing the people of Yugoslovia any favors by bombing them day after day and killing their people. Until we get the parties to agree with this premise, any further solutions are academic.

Then we need to stop the bombing and challenge our assumptions regarding what solutions are viable. Engaging Milosovic in dialogue would be a good starting point. Perhaps the general secretary of the U.N. could act as an emisary and look for way's to end the war with terms acceptable to both parties.

What's simplistic is to believe that throwing bombs at Yugoslovia will force them to give up their homeland. Let me ask you this, if another country started bombing the United States and we were helpless to stop them. Do you think we would just give up, leave and say, here take it??
