You may be underestimating the depth and range of the conspiracy against the shorts... Certainly all the Big mutual funds are in on it, and of course, Steve Case and some of the longer term AOL insiders. Their positions are so exposed that they have no choice but to float good news stories and provide front runner buyers to make it appear that real buying interest is there, so they can quietly liquidate their positions and be gone from this turkey of a stock. I think Brandon Tartikoff is probably in the conspiracy....required to provide massive undisclosed purchases of AOL stock in exchange for a job, publicity, and an under the table buy back offer at a later date. All to prop up the price, squeeze the shorts, and allow Case and company to dump stock on the unsuspecting investors.
We must have crooked accountants aiding and abetting AOL management in a massive coverup....the shell companies they use prevent any reasonable fundamental analysis of where the assets have come from, where they have gone, and which overseas bank account the cash is now residing in. The rash of recent positive P/R releases has got to be part of the hyping activity that is designed to create a short panic which will be followed by panic covering and subsequent insider and big boy distribution and you know what that means, even if I don't, and excuse me if I ramble some but when a rip like this starts and fundamentals looking backwards don't even particularly come close to supporting the price action looking forward then by golly something must explain that discrepancy and that something is rotten and since I have no idea what it really is I conclude conspiracy, you know what I mean?
