I simply prefer to forcast the movement for 1-2 months and play accordingly. In case of T I believe it will slide for at least 1 to 2 months till next earning report cleares up the problems revealed by managment. The p/e might be even less then $ .69 . So writing April $30 call for instance for about $6 would give you number of options. If T slides to below $30 you do not buy it back. If by April 16th-18th it is $31 - $32 resisting to going further down you can buy it back for about $1 - $2. If resistance is not obvious you simply let it to be assigned and buy later on at even lower price. Even if it goes down to $32 (previous low point) and recoveres to $35 - $37 you might let it to be assigned, hoping to buy again at a lower price. As you can see the number of options you have writing short term calls is much greater.
