Re: Win2000 Server and RDP or ICA

Thread,
I can't remember who it was, but someone brought up Win2000 and it's relationship to ICA. It appears from the Q&A below, that MSFT is not including ICA in Win2000? Sounds like it comes with Microsoft's new improved RDP. It's a little hard to figure out and I could be completely wrong. Can someone clear this up. Exactly what part of Citrix's software is embedded in Win2000 Terminal Services?
Thanks,
MikeM(From Florida)

PS I just noticed it appears Microsoft did a name change also. From "Terminal Server Edition," to "Terminal Services."

Q: What are the new features in Windows 2000 Terminal Services over Windows NT Server 4.0 Terminal Server Edition?

A: There are several key enhancements to Terminal Services in Windows 2000....Terminal Services has also been integrated with the Network Load Balancing (formerly Windows Load Balancing) service in Windows 2000, offering customers additional built-in scalability when setting up farms of Terminal Servers.

The 16- and 32-bit RDP clients for Windows included with Windows 2000 Server also have major enhancements: brush and persistent caching to improve performance; shadowing/remote control of one client session by another for administration/troubleshooting, etc...
