Want to hear the COMPAQ radio ad campaign in the UK? The main speaker has a Newcastle or "Geordie" accent - don't worry if you can't understand it, most of us here don't either. The voice that comes in at the end saying "COMPAQ better answers" is more like mine! The Geordie makes a lot of references to football (sorry "soccer") his own team , Newcastle and its centre-forward Alan Shearer, as well as disparaging remarks about the local rivals, Sunderland. If you don't understand any Britishcisms, post your questions here! I don't know why they chose a Geordie accent - its one of the lowest ranked in the UK. But they are obviously going for a working-class, middle-age, down to earth, matter of fact approach. The Geordie accent is "honest".
You can also get the rather classy UK TV ads with the animated drawings, some of which you can see on the page - but they take longer to download. You select a short zipped of longer unzipped version.
Also, if you want a free COMPAQ screensaver - and I know JIMBO loves freebies - help yourself.
