Sometimes our company seems jinxed. Tom Hoff and I met up in Waterbury CT for the technical testing of vehicles which will be racing in the Tour de Sol which starts Monday. There we learned from a crestfallen Ovonic rep that the van containing two NiMh scooters, the ECD booth and presentation materials had been stolen from a hotel parking lot en route. Many student teams are so poor they have kids sleep in their transporter vehicles along the way. maybe we can learn something... What a dismal showing when Evercel had a tent (umbrella?) for their Nickel Zinc and SAFT was out in force (no pun intended) with a couple of NiCD vehicles. Yes there were other Ovonic Nimh vehicles. But some, like the S10 might as well be powered by dilithium crystals for all you can see of the battery. Yes Don, I asked about 200 NiMh powered EV1's impounded in Southern California. "Electrical problem/upgrade and they will be coming out in June." Is it only me who finds this really weird? After 5 months of production we realize we need an upgrade and then we do it in the field? Also, learned that the GMO/2 batteries are due out in August/September.
