I bought from $3.00 to $1.75 over 4 months with an average of $2.50.

I have bottom fished for tech stocks before. Typically they either recover or are bought out (at some price) AFTER their cash is used up by companies wanting Coporate contacts, expertise, or a jump start on a product.

Clearly there is downside risk given the resources and commitment of large competing firms to develop integrated Java products. Insiders have been inactive passing up what appears to be a buying oportunity. However the market for business model driven object-oriented products such as Smalltalk and Java is huge. ParcPlace only needs a small piece of it. Although Smalltalk is dying it is not yet dead as many believe. Smalltalk sales have increased substantially with the advent of VisualAge by IBM although they have almost stopped for ParcPlace.

Although I did not base my purchase decision on the current product line, I have used VisualWorks for many years and found it to be far superior to "relational" tools such as VisualBasic. No comment about the support. My decision to purchase ParcPlace stock is based on fundamentals such cash position, conservatism with accounting practices, rapid decline in stock prices without sufficient cause (we were all aware for years that Java was likey to replace Smalltalk as the OO tool of choice), position and reputation in the oo tool market, and potential as a buyout candidate.
