Yes, it is realistic. I know that Apple produces a laptop with Nic Cad batteries that are good for 6 hours use. I imagine that Lithium batteries would last longer but at what price? The rechargeable variety is very expensive in either Nic Cad or Lithium. I believe, that cost is the limiting factor.
