Maurice, re the unfairness of the FDA: What you're seeing is government of the people, by the people, and for the people. The FDA works the way it does because our people want it that way. Sure, we want freedom, but too many of us want freedom without responsibility. Which is why we want the freedom to take any drug we want for any purpose we want. But as soon as we reap a misfortune from one of our free decisions, we want somebody else held responsible for the injury. That's why this country is reeking in lawsuits, and that's why the FDA and our other government regulatory agencies will ALWAYS be too restrictive. People want freedom AND security from bad decisions that comes from that freedom (i.e., freedom from responsibility) and life just won't work that way. That's why the Russians are having such a hard time with their democracy, (because their security net has been taken away), and that's why we are steadily losing the freedoms our ancestors bought with their blood (because our acceptance of the responsibility comcomitant with freedom is eroding). Didn't Rome fall for the same reason?
