I recently ran across a newspaper ad from several years
ago when they were selling for $379. I bought mine early
in '98 for $179, and they are now going for $79. The
wireless keyboard is an extra $50. The mouse and all the
wiring to hook up to phone jack are included in the $79.

They don't have a disk drive, but for all of the
applications I mentioned no software is necessary anyway.
I do have a pair of sony playstations that I hook up to
the monitor from time to time. I suppose next there will
be a little auxillary disc drive that can be plugged into
the front of the monitor just like a playstation.

The next generation of these boxes are expected to be
about the size of a radar detector in a car. There's
really not much to them at all. I'm surprised AOL isn't
going to just give theirs away for free in order to rope
in subscribers. They should.
