Frank,

As previous illustrates, investment decisions and advice should not be made made while under the influence. It only results in poor spelling, non sequiturs and ranting. Virtually every assertion made therein cannot withstand objective analysis.

On the other hand, your view looks better every day. The only problem is that so many professionals know AOL is a mediocre service and has been, and is, wildly overvalued by any standard. That has invited the massive short positions which have fueled the rise. Counterintuitive? Yes, but as you know, accurate. However, when AOL is valued on the fundamentals, as it ultimately will be, it should be at a fraction of its current market value.

These additional facts cannot be denied: 1) AOL's growth RATE is slowing substantially; 2) AOL's subscriber acquisition costs are outrageous by industry standards especially in light of: 3)AOL's high turnover rate; 4) AOL's discount plan will have a profound negative impact financially based on historic usage patterns; 5) AOL has been awarded the LOWEST rating of any ISP (Internet Service Provider) by users in the CNET survey at last look.

And now impartial and widely read Consumers Reports joins the fray and rates upmarket rival CompuServe as the "Best Value" in online services (May '96). Reality IS starting to set in.
