I think 1st-mate is looking for stocks that gapped down so he can find patterns that a stock follows in the days and weeks after they gap down huge. Although each case is different I normally see 4-5 patterns that come up time and time again. The hard part is to figure out what pattern the stock that is gapping down is going to follow in the following days and weeks. If it was easy, everyone would do it.

Anyone want to comment on their gap down strategies....a couple of the basic rules that I like to follow:

...stocks always TRY and fill a gap although many of them don't succeed.
...the safest short is when the stock rallies to the bottom of the gap down
...the safest long is when the gap down has been filled with a gap up.

Best Regards
KEITH
