Jon, I second SFD's comments. Currently, I also use DaSlinger, which uses Datek's express servers. The express servers do NOT provide the NM or NS indicators.

Also, I use Quote.com's QCharts and StockScanner (my own custom-developed, real-time scanning software that uses Quote.com's QFeed datafeed) for intraday trading. I specifically added a feature to StockScanner that records the shortability of a stock through Datek so that I would not have to do this while I'm trading. If a stock pops up in the scanning software, I can tell at a glance if it is shortable. Frankly, I can't waste valuable trading time to log into Datek just to find out whether I should spend the time and effort tracking a stock that is moving down.

Finally, QCharts and StockScanner are at least two orders of magnitude better than Datek's real-time quotes and Streamer. Stock scanning, charting, technical analysis, LevelII quotes and integrated Island Book (shortly). I see no reason to go to Datek for a quote. Zero. Zip. Nada.

With an e-mail list, it would be simplicity itself to parse the list automatically and update my StockScanner "shortable" indicators. Now, I have to enter the shortable flags manually.

Frankly, there is a lot of competition out there - from ECN's, data providers and brokerages of all stripes. Given Datek's apparent lack of assertiveness in fixing its problems and adding new features for its customers, I suspect that they won't be the fourth largest broker for long.

Regards,

Dan.
