Is it actually the case that the producers of the genetically engineered produce managed to get legislation passed that does not only not require them to label their produce as genetically engineered, but prohibits their non-engineering competitors from labeling them with that information? I think I read that.

The only place I can find tomatoes that taste like tomatoes now is at the organic food store. They're very expensive, and don't always look perfect, but so good you can sprinkle salt on them and eat them like an apple. In the summer, you can sometimes find decent tomatoes at the farm stands.
