The slow death of Cisco and its routers: Cisco got stuck with its routers just like Big Blue could not abandon its obsolete mainframe. Cisco has grown so large that it has lost the ability to quickly turn around products. By going with proprietary technologies, Cisco is closing the door to innovation and support from other companies. IP switches are going to replace the routers big time. Unfortunately, 80% of the Internet routers are Cisco's. The following article in NetworkWorld still fail to acknowledge MRV as the leader in IP switching.
