And here we have it folks..."the government was armed" (and the people presumably were not). This is the sole reason for the 2nd Amendment: that the people may defend themselves against a tyranical government. It has nothing to do with hunting.

And all governments become tyranical if allowed to. It is only human nature, that those who strongly desire "to govern" have something amiss with their "software." And yet it is these people whom we constantly elect and relect to public office. We do great harm to ourselves by turning away from those candidates who don't offer us a "solution" to our every "problem". Were we (as well as everyone else in the world) to elect people such as Cincinatus and Calvin Coolidge, we would have far fewer people killed in wars than we do today.
