Frank, Keep up the great posts. Your thoughts are prescient and of substance. More interesting to sink ones teeth into than some of the chatter that pops up elsewhere. It does seem like a trend has suddenly begun to surface, in regard to server farms that will become massive holding tanks, near the edge of the net. Offering content, applications, advanced storage and data mining services. I can visualize huge buildings filled with rows of storage devices (servicing corporations and consumers) controlled by a consumer on the edge of the net, using an intelligent device that tells the powerful server farm computing node what it wants. The incredible depths of competition and ease of moving your business to other locations on the net, will drive a rapid evolution of this technology. Because the customer's entire business can be transported in a microsecond to a better server farm, it will force the server farm companies to continuously prove that they offer the smartest and safest place on the net to house your data.
