I am in favor of minimizing the use of pesticides, as are most farmers. I don't think that we can feed the masses at our current level without them, at this time however.

I have been following organic farming for about 30 years now. Did you know that Robert Rodale, who I believe published organic farming, dropped dead on the Dick Cavet show shortly after proclaiming that he would live to a ripe old age because he ate only organic food. It doesn't prove anything, but neither do claims that non-organic foods are harmful.

What do organic farmers do when a huge cloud of grasshoppers descends on their crops, get out fly swatters?

I am not too much bothered by genetically engineered crops. Of course I think that they should be carefully monitored to see if there are any unthought of consequences. Nature genetically engineers plants all of the time. It's called natural selection.

Remember, your natural sea salt has walrus snot and fish pee in it. I prefer pure processed sodium chloride on my tomatoes.
