Gary, About the broker you felt was charging you American funds. What happens is he quotes at whatever price it is trading here and the accounting department is the one who would put the correct exchange amount on your confirmation slip and your statement. The brokers do not have the time to calculate every fluctuation in the Cdn dollar and the US dollar so chances are it was a misunderstanding, and he should have explained that to you, or you should have asked. Hope this helps to clear this up for you.
