to Cut Its Cost of Goods Sold and Speed Time to Market

Aspect 's Largest Order Year To-Date

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., May 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Aspect Development, Inc. (Nasdaq: ASDV) today announced that it had closed its largest order to-date this year with electronics giant Motorola (NYSE: MOT), which is purchasing the company's Component and Supplier Management (CSM) solutions for inbound supply chain management to help the company make a significant reduction in its cost of goods sold and its time to market for new products. Motorola will be using Aspect's solutions to help it consolidate its component and materials spending across all of its business on a global basis. This will help make Motorola more agile in its product development efforts, and will allow greater ability to have Motorola share data across its businesses. The order, signed on April 15, 1999, was one of the major deals that was expected to be closed in the first quarter for Aspect Development, and represents a major expansion of Motorola's use of Aspect Development products and services.

"Motorola has always been recognized as a best practices company, winning the coveted Baldridge Award for Manufacturing Excellence, and leading the development of many new telecommunications and consumer product technologies," said Romesh Wadhwani, Aspect Chairman and CEO. "Their use of Aspect's inbound supply chain solutions is an extension of that best practice focus. They believe that it will enabaling them to create and sustain world class procurement and product development programs that will keep them in the forefront of their industry. We're very proud to have them as a key customer and to be a part of their new inbound supply chain initiatives."
