<Then I lost a disk drive and Dell replaced it under warranty. >

I lost my hard drive from my new Dell laptop also. In fact, this new machine has been less than spectacular for no particular reason.

I wonder if a lot of these drives returned. I believe mine was an IBM travelstar. It was 6.4 gig. Started sounding like my mother's antique clock as it wound up to chime. Took my drive 3 months to fail which wasn't such a problem, but very annoying.

Regards,

Mark

PS Great discussion on tighter tolerances. What do you think of JMAR? They have a lot of measurement products.
