All that's true, but I think the Fed is determined to prevent its happening if they can. I think that's what those rate cuts were about. With nothing but a fiat currency, I remain more afraid of deleberate inflation, no matter what the Fed may say about its priorities.
But we will see. I remember my mother quoting someone about fifty years ago who said, "We don't want inflation, and we don't want deflation. I guess what we want is flation."
Meantime, do you or does anyone else have any information, informed guesses, speculation, or wild surmise as to at what various levels they could be serious margin-call selling for AMZN, AOL, EBAY, SCH, YHOO, INTC, DELL? I pick up rumors here and there that "my broker," "my friend at the brokerage," etc is saying "a lot of margin calls are going out."
In the last few weeks margin debt has increased hugely, and I can't believe that a lot of that is still for short positions against the box. |
