It is entirely possible that this "communications cable" is available in Salt Lake to be used for powering purposes. Upon further detailed reading of the press release, it seems that they infer they will be "testing" a technique for centralized powering, not actually implementing it at this time. I think all the members of this panel are savvy enough to understand there is a huge difference between testing the waters and actually deploying a technology or technique into a full scale operating network.

It will be very interesting to watch how this test proceeds and the results and conclusions they come up with.
