My mom chatted with relatives in Japan about Softbank. It's strange, she tells me that the average Japanese don't consider the stock market as a legitimate way to put your money to use. At most, my mom says, many folks will invest in real estate and buildings. Otherwise, most folks are content to be earning negligible interest from bank savings accounts. Quite tragic if true. Hopefully a change in mindset will get their economy out of the gutter. By the way, some people over there still dismiss him as nothing more than a Korean maverick.
